Abstract
We investigated of the 56 cases of abruptio placentae among 17,669 deliveries during 1987 to 1991 to the department of obstetrics and Gynecology, Kwang Ju Christion Hospital.
The incidence of abruptio placentae was 0.31%, or one in 315 deliveries and decreased annualy. Common symptoms and signs are vaginal bleeding (83.9%), uterine tenderness and/or backache (71.4%), fetal distress (66.0%), uterine hypertonus (55.4%),
and so
on.
The most effective etiologic factor was PIH(30.4%), so BP control with CVP checking, appropriate transfusion, immediate induction of labor, control of hypertension, early detection and treatment of renal failure decreased the mortality and
morbidity of
mother and fetus.
The relationship among the gestational age, neonatal condition and severity of abruption, the shorter gestational age and more severe abruption, the worse neonatal condition.
The number of cases of deliveries by cesarean section was 33 (58.9%),k and it effected on lowering perinatal mortality, so perinatal mortality was decreased generally to 254/1,000 deliveries.
